The Julian Time Capsule Project

Julian time capsule project
Julian Time Capsule

We have something very special planned at the Julian Town Square this 4th of July for America’s Semiquincentennial. On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead towards the future. On this very special day, we will have a dedication ceremony for a time capsule at the Julian Town Square.

Our time capsule project will preserve today’ s Julian for future generations to discover in 2076.
The capsule will contain about 20 items representing our community. The Julian Community Heritage Foundation board will be selecting these items, honoring Julian’s foundational heritage.

We are coordination with various community members and organizations in that selection process. These items will be presented on this day and various guest speakers will attend to dedicate each piece and talk about their significance.

The items will be on display for a time at the Pioneer Museum, before we eventually entomb them, later in the fall.

Bring the family and join us for this very special moment!

We want today’s youth to have something meaningful to revisit in fifty years, right in the heart of our historic district. By involving them now, we hope they’ll develop a sense of ownership over our town’s past and carry forward an appreciation for Julian’s heritage.

Mark your calendars for the capsule dedication ceremony on July 4th. We appreciate your support as we create this lasting legacy for our community.
