We have something very special planned at the Julian Town Square this 4th of July for America’s Semiquincentennial.
On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead towards the future.
On this very special day, we will have a dedication ceremony for a time capsule at the Julian Town Square.
Our time capsule project will preserve today’ s Julian for future generations to discover in 2126.
The capsule will contain 13-15 items representing our community. Our board will be selecting five cornerstone pieces honoring Julian’s foundational heritage that include:
- The Drue Bailey Family
- The Washington Mine
- The James Jasper Family
- The Fred Coleman Family
- The Kummeyay Tribe
Eight to ten community members will be randomly selected by raffle, at the upcoming Julian Town Square Music Festival to choose the remaining items. Submission guidelines forthcoming.
